Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship-Hi, I'm Mikey.
I'm 10 years old, and I live in Massachusetts, and I'm here to review "Dinosaurs Before Dark."
[ Dinosaur growling ] The book is about two kids named Jack and Annie who find a magic tree house, and they go back to dinosaur times by making a wish.
So they're brother and sister.
The sister is freaking out because she gets to hug a real-life dinosaur.
And he's like, "No, what if they try and eat you?"
But she still does it anyways.
[ Laughs ] ♪♪ -Hi, Mikey.
This is Mary, and I'm so glad to meet you.
I love that you love the "Magic Tree House" books.
It means so much to me.
-I did not expect this.
I get to meet the author of the books that, like, the 50 books that I have.
-Well, Jack and Annie are part of my life.
You know how long I've been writing those books, Mikey?
How long?
-For 30 years.
30 years.
And I'm writing a new one.
I'm working on the 65th one.
-Wow.
-I have three pieces of advice.
Number one, write a story where you have to do a little bit of research and write down the facts like Jack does, and then put that into your story, and it'll make it more interesting to the reader.
Number two, rewrite your story, make it better each time.
Do that constantly.
I'm constantly rewriting.
And number three, try to have fun, and if you stop having fun, step away, take a break, and come back, and I promise you, it'll be more fun the second time.
-This is just shocking me.
I never thought I would meet you.
-Well, I'm so proud that you read my books.
It really makes my day.
-Nice to meet you.
-Bye, Mikey.
It was fantastic to meet you.
-Wow.
That was amazing.
